India’s Policy

Guided by National Population Policy (NPP) 2000, aiming for a stable population by 2045 through voluntary family planning, education, and maternal health programs.

International Example: China

  • 1970s–2015: One-child policy led to rapid fertility decline.
  • Outcome: By early 2020s, fertility rate ~1.0, population shrinking.

Key Recommendations:

  • Incentives for small families
  • Education reforms and reproductive health programs
  • Encourage responsible parenting
